Desiderata Days ~ Love

Love is all there is. We’ve heard this from Jesus; we hear it today from our contemporary love gurus. It is true. Love forms the bond that keeps us going every day.

Max Ehrmann says:

Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

We have all been disenchanted by love interests at some point in our lives. Cynicism is merely a protective coating, like Creosote, on our souls. But you know what? It stinks, too.

Live with love and laughter!

    1. If it is love, it cannot destroy. It is fear and righteousness (as in, I am right and if you don’t believe the way I do, you are wrong) that lead to destruction. I am sure if you were to ask a terrorist who killed in the name of their beloved God that it was an act of love. Killing others is not an act of love, but an act of violence. That is not how I define love.

  1. Feeling a bit disenchanted about love these days. Having a hard time believing that it is perennial, much less in abundant supply.

However, I will keep re-reading this post and this passage. I will have faith and trust that the universe is unfolding as it should, and that these words will ring true…

    1. Hey there, C ~

I understand. Some days I wake up in a frightful state of doubt. But the truth is there is so much love to be given. It starts with us. And when we share love, it grows in abundance. Keep at it ~ it is a lot like sharing our time. We can have it for ourselves while sharing it with others. Nothing is lost, but so much can be gained!
