And We Will Dance

Life is a dance.

Sometimes we go slow. Sometimes we go fast. Sometimes too fast. That’s when life comes in to tell you it is time to take it down a notch.

Remember that first awkward slow dance you had with that boy or girl you liked? With sweaty palms and a red face, you couldn’t believe your luck.

Love is a waltz, swaying back and forth with a beautiful dress and a partner to match. If you are lucky enough to find the right dancing companion, you will dance to the stars and back, losing your fear of heights once and for all.

In his song, When We Dance, Sting says that when you dance to the beat of your truest companion, angels will come and hid their wings.

In my view, there is no need to hide those wings. Let them unfurl like sails to take you to the place you are meant to go. Fly high, my winged friends. Don’t be fearful to look down because when you dance, you are in the midst of your own unfolding. Especially when you share it with the ones you love.

Who will you dance with today?

I am dancing with my husband today up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Bryce Resort, where a red headed pileated woodpecker drummed on the tree on the stream outside our deck during breakfast this morning. We are now going on a search to see if we can find him and say “Thanks for your dance.”
